Sexual Exploitation
Sexual exploitation is a form of sexual abuse where people – children or adults – are sexually exploited for money, power or status. It can involve violent, humiliating and degrading assaults. In some cases adults can be persuaded or forced into having sex for money, drugs, gifts and affection. It can happen face to face or online and can involve people going missing.
Sexual exploitation can be:
- Rape
- Sexual assault
- Being forced to take part in or watch pornography
- Being trafficked into, out of, or around the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation (sex work or prostitution)
- Being tricked or manipulated into having sex or performing a sexual act
- Being victim to revenge porn (when a previously taken video or photograph, which was taken with or without consent is shared online)
